Understanding Repeater Settings
- Frequency
- The repeater’s output frequency is where you listen.
- Offset
- The difference between the repeater’s output and input frequencies. Your radio transmits on the input frequency.
- Access tone
- Some repeaters require your radio to transmit a particular tone to access them. Listings may also provide a separate receive tone.
- Mode
- Your radio must support the repeater’s operating mode and use the appropriate settings.
- Distance and coverage
- A nearby repeater may still be difficult to reach. Terrain, antenna placement, equipment, and repeater conditions affect coverage.
